Today Kinglake was green and lush and the smell of damp bark and mountain air was a relief after weeks in the city. Black stumps and burnt, skeletal fingers clawing at the hillside were ghostly reminders of Mother Nature’s destructive cycle. Beneath my feet, the earth was alive. Above me, the heavens warned of storms to come.
